The Minnesota Transgender Alliance has an obligation to protect the safety of those who come to our meetings as well as a societal obligation to do our part to assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
People are being encouraged to practice "social distancing" to reduce chances of transmission of illnesses. Groups of over a couple hundred people are being encouraged to be canceled. Our meetings are well below this number, but we will still encourage common sense prevention in our meetings:
• When available, we will utilize larger rooms to allow greater distance between people.
• We will minimize or eliminate passing of things around rooms.
• We encourage people to not show up physically to meetings if they're not feeling well or displaying symptoms and instead to take advantage of virtual meetings when available.
• We won't serve coffee or have shared snacks.
• We will encourage use of hand washing, especially after contact with door handles, etc.
People in high risk categories (over 60, autoimmune conditions, respiratory illness, chronic illness such as heart disease) should balance the risk of coming to meetings with their own personal safety.
We will continue to monitor advice being given by the Minnesota Department of Health. If and when warranted, we will move to virtual meetings using tools such Zoom or GoToMeeting or WebEx. These will not have a charge to users but will require a smartphone or computer on WiFi.
Thank you for your participation in MNTA and for your assistance with helping deter the spread of illnesses.
